Many Voices, One Decision

Read: Mark 14:12-25

As you read Mark 14:12-25, it comes as a reminder of the plan God had in place that Jesus was here to fulfill. What plan? The plan to build a new covenant with His followers. The covenant of the forgiveness of sins being available to all of humanity and to once again live in communion with God.

As Jesus explained to His disciples the plan He had in store of His body being the bread of life and the blood of the covenant being like the wine, the disciples began to question who is the greatest amongst them. (Luke 22:24 NIV)

Being a Christian, we long to hear the voice of God, however when we don’t discern in the right voice, we miss the mark. The disciples were more focused on who was considered the “Greatest” while sitting with Jesus. Yes, Jesus, the Son of God! They’re wondering who is the greatest as they are in the presence of Jesus? Jesus is explaining His plan and they got distracted from true authority by their personal desires.

As ignorant as it may seem for the disciples to behave this way, we do the same. When the Lord prompts something in our hearts, He’s trusting us to go through with it. However, when we allow our self desires to get in the way, we miss the opportunities. God prompts us to be examples for others to seek Him, and it’s all for God’s will to be done over our own. (Matthew 6:10 NIV)

Prayer:
Father God, I pray that we may recognize your voice, that you may fill us with a Holy fire to long for you and truly desire doing your will, that you fill us with humbleness to do your will with the right intentions. Lord, I pray that we may encounter new people this week, that your light will shine through us as we engage with them. Let your love manifest in us to seek serving others, and that our hearts may be aligned with your heart Jesus. I pray that we can be there for one another, and that you continue to purify us as we can’t make this journey on our own. Thank You Lord for trusting us to spread your gospel, we love and glorify you, in Your Holy name we pray, Amen.
