Will You Answer Jesus' Prayer?
”Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”“
Matthew 9:35-38 NIV
We pray everyday for God to answer our prayers. Here, Jesus prays for more workers to help people.
Will you be the answer to Jesus’ prayer?
Do you see people with compassion or do you see them as a burden?
Do you see people as helpless or do you see them as a problem?
Do you just want to receive or do you also want to give?
At some point, someone saw me with compassion and helped me. Now, I get to return the favor and pay it forward. That's what it means to be a true follower of Jesus.
We must want to be a help to others in need.
A great need right now in our church community is for small group leaders.
We have a good problem - a lot of people are coming to church, but we don't have enough people willing to work with them.
We are looking for people willing to open their hearts and their homes to facilitate more intimate communities.
You can pick your own crew, like Jesus did.
You can pray and ask God to reveal the people that you would want on your crew.
Or you can do an open crew with whoever wants to join.
Church becomes boring if all we do is show up to a service once a week.
The excitement and adventure of this journey is in investing in others.
There are NO guarantees in investments, some pay off and others don't - remember that Jesus hand-picked Judas to be on His crew!
