I don't Believe in God anymore.

"Once in a while, someone will say, I don't believe in God anymore.

My response is, I probably don't believe in that God either.

Which usually will shock people to hear, but once we unpack that statement, we come to understand that all of us can create a God that does not exist.

“God created us in His image and then we returned the favor.” - Blaise Pascal

In our sinfulness and selfishness, we can create a God that simply does not exist.

If the God in your mind agrees with all your decisions, co-signs all your moves, never corrects you nor rebukes you, then it's not God that you believe in, its just yourself.

The opposite of faith in God is not doubt, but self.

We all have been disappointed with God, because He did not respond in ways that we thought He should respond.

But, if God is truly God, then why should He always respond and do what I think He should do?

Our society has bought into a lie that if someone does not agree with a certain lifestyle that person must hate them, and that's a lie.

As a parent, I find myself constantly saying no to my kids requests, not because I hate them, but truly because I love them and know what's best for them.

If God cannot rebuke nor correct you, then He’s not truly God.

”And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.“
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We must let God of our idea of God and embrace the real God that is unpredictable, but He is Good.

As CS Lewis is famous for saying, God is good, but He is not safe.

Part of our journey is to let go of a make believe God, and surrender to the true God."
