Slow Death

”And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”“
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Freedom and bondage is the blessing and curse of our free will.

What most people seem to miss is the fact when God says you will surely die, we don't really believe Him. Why?

Because it is a slow and painful death, so we think we are good, because the consequences come in slowly.

For example, someone who begins to indulge in a substance, he does not see the ramifications right away, but he's on his way to becoming an addict.

When someone has sex outside of marriage, they don't see the consequences right away, but with time they have distorted the true meaning of sex and will jeopardize their future without realizing it.

I see people who are just waking up to their disobedience even though it started years ago, now the death is beginning to manifest itself.

For Adam and Eve, they begin to truly see the ramifications of their actions in their kids. Cain literally brings death to his brother Abel.

It is no small thing to disobey God.

It should make us run quickly to His mercy and ask for His grace to cover our rebellion instead of trying to justify our actions.

Remember that God’s wrath is when He takes His hands off your life and lets you do whatever you want.

God says, have it your way, which is death, which is stress, fear, anxiety, lust, pride, hopelessnes, addiction, bondage and without repentance, which is hell.

”Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.“
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬
