God is Personal.
Most people’s understanding of God comes from other people's understanding of God.
Pause.
Re-read that statement.
The Israelites told Moses to talk to God on their behalf.
They didn't want to approach God directly.
Why is that?
Because it is uncomfortable and it takes work.
It is easier to watch a youtube video about God and the Bible, Instagram stories that tells you about God or Facebook posts.
None of the these things are bad.
The problem is that they are all secondary revelation.
It is someone else’s interpretation and revelations.
And we do need those people(not all of them:)
Christianity is a group project.
God gave us pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets, missionaries and apostles - Ephesians 4.
And God gave us each other to stay focused, accountable and united - 1Corinthians 12.
But, God wants each one of us to know Him PERSONALLY & Experientially.
God wants to commune with you.
God’s number one love language is quality time.
God loves to spend time with you.
And that takes time and effort on your part.
There are things that God wants to reveal to you that you won't get from anyone else.
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
Revelation 3:20 NIV
What’s interesting is that the more you spend time with God, the less you feel the need for second hand revelation.
And the more you spend time with God, those people can only confirm what God is already saying to you.
You need both:
Personal time with God.
Communal time with God’s people.
Social media cannot replace neither, because its plastic.
You don't know those people personally.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13 NIV
