Self-Deception

““You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

One of the greatest tricks of the enemy is to make us feel more unique and special than we actually are.

he whispers:

Not you, you are different. No one really understands you. It won't happen to you.
Your situation is extremely unique. Why bother, they wont get you. And so on…

The goal is self-deception.

Make you believe your own lie.

Make you feel like it is you against the world.

Keep you justifying your own ways.

It is intoxicating to worship self. Living in your own bubble of self you created in your little mind. Truth is, none of us are that unique.

Whatever we are going through, someone has been there. Whatever we are thinking, someone has thought it. Whatever we are feeling, someone has felt it.

The difference is do you believe self or God? You either become your own god,
Or you surrender to God. You can't do both.

The opposite of faith is not doubt.

The opposite of faith is self.

And that is why the gospel of self is so popular.

It appeals to our desire to be our own god.

It started in the Garden of Eden.

If you believe that you are extremely unique and special, then keep doing what you're doing.

You are doing great.

If you can sense self-deception.

Surrender to Jesus, and you will have real life.

“Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬-‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬
