Laser Focused
Today we celebrate the life of truly a prophet to our nation. The Pastor, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
What he was able to accomplish in his life was nothing short of a miracle from God. He was graced with talents, gifts, and abilities that helped him both communicate and lead like only a few throughout human history.
But it doesn’t matter what gifts you are graced with. You won’t accomplish anything of significance in this life without -
The Discipline of Meditation.
It is the key to staying focused on the main thing, pursuing the heart of God, staying in His will, and following Jesus.
It is the key to having a healthy “inner life” and responding (not reacting) to the demands/issues of everyday life.
“Hurry is not of the devil, it is the devil.” Learn to master the art of pausing and slowing down in a fast culture.
In a world filled with busyness, hurriedness, and producing on the highest level, you need pockets throughout your day to sit back, reflect, just be, and meditate on God.
Meditating and reflecting has always been at the heart of Christianity and a vital part in the life of everyone wanting to grow spiritually and follow Jesus.
Everyone meditates even without knowing it. What are you focused on?
Think about what you’re thinking about and be intentional about what plays over and over again in your mind.
Be militant. Don’t just let anything into your mind.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” - Psalm 19:14
Don’t feel guilty that when you shut off the noise and distractions to meditate and reflect, your mind starts to wander or you have a hard time focusing… That is a part of growing in the discipline.
You’re not a bad Christian. You’re human. Over time it won’t ever be easy but it will get easier.
Be Laser Focused on the goodness of God, what He has done for you, The Word of God, and praise Him for who He is.
When you meditate, you will learn to hear and see God more clearly, and His will becomes greater in your life so that you may obey Him, which leads to more abundant life!
Prayer: Thank you Jesus for who You are. Lord teach me to be still. Help me and guide me to focus my mind on You and things above. Show me how to be more disciplined in my mediation and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Empower me to love and live like You. Amen.
