happiness is fleeting.

The world emphasizes happiness as the ultimate goal in life.

We buy into it.

And then we are disappointed.

So we get rid of the things and people that are not making us happy. If that means our marriage has to go, so be it. If that means stopping serving so I can find happiness, so be it.

Buy something I can’t afford if it will bring me happiness, I’m game.

Block people who are trying to suppress my happiness, there’s no time for happiness haters.

We do not bother asking God, our creator if happiness is the ultimate goal in life. We just assume that’s what He wants and if God is not on board, He can also be discarded if He won’t bring me happiness.

“Then He said to them all, “If anyone wants to follow after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will save it.
For what does it benefit someone if he gains the whole world, and yet loses or forfeits himself?”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬-‭25‬ ‭CSB‬‬

There’s more to life than mere fleeting happiness.

Fulfillment is found in self-denial for something greater.

God is way more concerned with your eternity than little bowls of soup along the way.

“Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again. But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again. In fact, the water I will give him will become a well of water springing up in him for eternal life.””
‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭CSB‬‬
