Bring Sunday... Everyday
Written by: Richie L.
Do you consider yourself a priest? If you are a believer in Jesus, then God calls you to be a priest and a living temple to Him.This does not mean that we are all called into the vocation of priesthood, but rather that as Christians, we are all representatives of Jesus and his teachings. We are called to bring clarity, vision, flavor, salt and light to an otherwise dark world. We cannot allow ourselves to sit and be idle, awaiting only Sunday to do God's will and discuss the gospel, we need to bring Sunday to everyday!
"But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light." (1Peter 2:9 NLT)
As a living temple, we are no longer our own, but have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. Being that temple, means that wherever we are, God will also be. For this reason, we need to start to believe what God has said about us, and be who God has called us to be. We need to turn from this world, turn from our past sins, and begin to move forward into the victory that comes to God's people. We have been made new in Jesus, and no longer need to look back to what we once were, and how the world may have defined us.
"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." (Romans 12:2 NLT)
Bringing a Sunday mentality to everyday will require work on our part. We must remain aligned to God's will, and not our own will. Our loyalties can no longer remain in the dead things of this world, but rather must remain in Christ, embracing who we are in Jesus. Our focus must be fixed on the cross, allowing the spirit of God to affect our thinking, feelings, behaviors and identities. Our daily priestly duties must become: Prayer, Worship, Work, Standing for Life, Seeking Justice and Spreading the Gospel as salt and light. We cannot confine these actions to a Sunday thing, but must remain focused and diligent as Christians daily!
Let us move forward, realizing that God has already saved us from our past, it no longer defines us. We are no longer victims, and must move forward as the victors that God has graciously created us to be. As we believe in God, remember that God also believes in each and every one of us. We are His creations, and He will always love us. Approach each day as a beautiful Sunday, putting God first, rejoicing and being filled with joy as a royal priest and living temple to our Lord.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for all that you do. I praise you today and everyday, for you are sovereign. Help me to be a living temple where you may dwell within me. Cleanse me and make me new again, that I may be who you created me to be. Keep my mind and my heart focused on you each and everyday and in all that I do. Use me everyday for Your glory. Amen.
