Christmas is messy.

"For a Child is born to us,
a Son is given to us.
The government will rest on His shoulders.
    And He will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."    - Isaiah 9:6

The word "Advent" literally means, "the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event."

For thousands of years humanity lived in darkness not knowing where hope would come from.

You have the luxury, at the time of reading this, to look back through history at Jesus' first coming. But for those who actually lived it in real time....They were most likely feeling everything but hopeful.

They were oppressed, poverty stricken, hungry, + burdened with sin, shame, and guilt.

They had only promises in Scripture that God would send a Savior.

It is the same thing for us today. We must build our lives on The Word of God and trust Him with every area of our lives. People are still living in darkness and don't have hope that things can get better.

Jesus has always been in the details of history prior to His birth in a manger.

He eternally existed before Bethlehem was even an idea.

The foundations of the Earth were formed by His hands.

There may be seasons in life where it is dark and hope is faint....Take heart. He is never far and just like at the time of His birth, He will come through. His timing is always perfect.

Over 2,000 years ago He chose to step into time. Into the world He created. Into our mess for 1 reason only.

To bring us back into right standing with the only one who truly knows and loves us unconditionally.

Christmas is messy because life is messy.

Christmas is not a holiday. It is an everyday reality.

Jesus wants to Advent into your home and hearts everyday. Jesus wants to live with you, talk with you, and show you a better way of living.

Is He your Wonderful Counselor?
Is He your Mighty God and the source of your strength?
Is He your Everlasting Father?
Is He your Prince of Peace and are you allowing the fruit of His Spirit to become evident in your life?

The mess around you in this world doesn't have to permeate your heart/mind and stir within you.

Allow Jesus to clean you today (and everyday) mentally, emotionally, physically, relationally, financially, and most importantly.....Spiritually.
