Crucified With Christ
Written by: Luke L.
“Rather, I am a sinner if I rebuild the old system of law I already tore down. For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God. My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.”
Galatians 2:18-21 NLT
When we say YES to Jesus, we are dying to ourselves. In this message, Paul is speaking to Peter judging his hypocrisy. Paul had worked so hard to make a radical change and preach the good news, but here he is reminded by an action by Peter that it is easy to go back to your old ways.
So when we say I am all yours, my old ways are gone and new life has begun. We must die to our old desires, die to our old ways and die to religion. In this instance Paul is stating, I am a sinner if I try to bring back the old system of law after all of the work I have done to live for Jesus. Today, let’s be intentional about really seeking God and not letting our past mindsets or views get in the way.
Prayer:
Father God, I pray that I willingly die to my old self and pursue You with all that I have. That my mind would be renewed in You and that past hurts or disappointments would not construe my view of You. I pray that we reactivate our faith right now in knowing that You are good and Your grace is enough! In Jesus’ name, Amen
