Sitting at the Feet of Jesus
Sitting at the Feet of Jesus
By: Emilie M
As Jesus and the disciples continued on their journey, they came to a village where a woman welcomed Jesus into her home. Her name was Martha and she had a sister named Mary. Mary sat down attentively before the Master, absorbing every revelation he shared. But Martha became exasperated with finishing the numerous household chores in preparation for her guests, so she interrupted Jesus and said, “Lord, don’t you think it’s unfair that my sister left me to do all the work by myself? You should tell her to get up and help me.” The Lord answered her, “Martha, my beloved Martha. Why are you upset and troubled, pulled away by all these many distractions? Mary has discovered the one thing most important by choosing to sit at my feet. She is undistracted, and I won’t take this privilege from her.”
Luke 10:38-42 TPT
Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus and that moment is something that can never be taken from her. Did you know that sitting at someone’s feet is considered an intimate thing? Mary chose an intimate moment with Jesus. Martha was so caught up in the doing, preparing, & serving part that she was missing an intimate moment with Jesus.
How often do we get so caught up in the doing and serving ourselves that we’re missing those intimate moments
with Jesus or even those around us?
You could have a to-do list that’s a mile long, but then you feel that tug at your heart to spend some time with Jesus.
Don’t ignore that tug and don’t miss that moment friend, that intimate moment with Jesus is never wasted nor is it a
waste of time. Your to-do list can wait, it’ll still be there when your quiet time with Jesus is over and you’ll have the
strength and motivation to conquer it after being with Him.
So friend, Can you, for just a moment, imagine yourself sitting at the feet of Jesus? What does that look like for
you? Is it just sitting there and just being? Is it sitting there and pouring your heart out to Him? Is it you sitting there
weeping and Him comforting you? Or is it you sitting there and just letting Him speak to you and over you?
Sit at His feet, you won’t regret it.

Come sit at My feet
And talk with Me
Laugh with Me
Cry with Me
Come sit at My feet
And just be

You’re not asking much of me
except to just
come sit at My feet
and be
