Trusting in Jesus

Written by Ariana N.

Read: Mark 13:12-25

There have probably been times in our life where our faith has been put to the test: losing your job, going into debt, health issues, etc. As difficult as it is, those are moments where we will need God the most.

We may have felt, or still feel, betrayed or powerless. “Where is He?” you may ask, or “Why hasn’t he healed me or answered any of my prayers?” Despite these questions, deep down we may already know the answer. He is there, he always will be, the question is, do we still trust him.

We will never fully understand God’s intentions for us. Some of His answers come with miracles, some take time, years even. Some answers may never come in the way we wanted or expected them to, but remember “no” is still an answer. But the question remains: Do we still trust him?

This particular passage explains to us what it will be like when the time has finally come for Him to separate the believers from the non-believers. This day is also known as “The End Times”. According to Mark, he will give us one final test of faith, a chance to be saved and find paradise and eternity in Heaven. It won’t be easy of course, many will turn against you, family and friends will betray you, but no matter what happens, as long as we stand firm by his side, we will always win.

It will be terrifying; it can be uncomfortable or frightening even now to spread His word knowing that others may not take too kindly to them. People will turn on you, maybe they already have, but as long as you trust God, He will always be there for you, no matter how difficult things may be.

This passage also explains that there will be a false Messiah, and it will be up to us whether or not we choose to follow him. He will say what we want to hear, and promise that we will find eternity as long as we listen to his teachings despite what the bible says, but that’s not what God has told us. It will be another test, and it’s up to us to decide what the answer is. God has already spoken, all we have to do is trust Him.

Just remember, you’re not alone on this journey. It's so much easier said than done when it comes to blindingly following the Lord on faith alone.  At  the end of the day, trusting Him is all we need to do, and it’s ok if you need to ask that question over and over again. It’s ok to stumble and fall, we’re not perfect just because we choose Him. It's getting up after the fall that shows your character.

Church is for the broken, and we are all broken. His church, whether it be a physical building or an online experience, is for you.  Many won’t like it, they’ll even try to destroy it to “Save you”, but Jesus is our only Savior. Following Jesus comes with persecution, stand firm.
No matter your circumstances, whether you're dealing with the most difficult break up, sudden loss, or even the End Times (which may come sooner than we think), always trust God. His word will always be the answer, and that’s all we will need, no matter how difficult things may be.

Let us Pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, I want to confess to you today that it’s never been easy for me to rely on you. I have strayed, I have made decisions on my own instead of listening to your word, instead of trusting you. I will make mistakes, now and in the future, but because of you I can continue to get back up. I know no matter what I do, it’s because of you I will be forgiven, it’s because of you I am never alone.

From today on, I will put aside my selfishness, I will ignore the words of the enemy that have led me astray. Your trust is all I will ever need, no matter how difficult things may be. Thank you for loving me. Despite how broken and flawed I am, you have taken me in as your son/daughter, and will welcome me with open arms into your kingdom no matter what.
And it’s in your name I pray, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
