We > Me
Read: Mark 9:33-37
As Christians, whether new or old, we’ve all come across the idea of how good we are, and all the good we’ve done for Christ. However, during this thought process we’re missing the mark. While we all are responsible for whether or not we are fulfilling the will of God through our lives, we’re still in this together.
We were called to share the gospel with our brothers and sisters, and be messengers of the good news that is Jesus. You see, in today’s scripture reading, it mentions how disciples argued about who was the greatest (Mark 9:34). However, there’s none greater than Jesus. When we fall down that hole of arguing who’s doing better, or who’s living with a fuller purpose, we are basically throwing it all away with the pride of how “great” we are.
As we try to be fully aligned with the plans of God over our lives, we must also look to help our neighbors. This opens up the opportunity to help a brother or sister to also move into full alignment with Christ, since we were made to serve over being served (Mark 9:35). When we welcome one another on this journey, we welcome God into the midst of it all, therefore aligning us as a community towards His path.
Prayer: Lord, thank You that in the progression and growth in my life, I may be used as a tool to lead others towards You and Your word. Thank You that I may be used as an example for others to relate to and feel free from the burdens life brings along the way, that while we may focus on the past You keep us in the now, and so I pray all this in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
