Time Alone With Jesus

Read: Mark 7:31-37

“Jesus led him away from the crowd so they could be alone.” (‭‭Mark‬ ‭7:33‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

How do you spend the hours of your day? Each day we wake up with breath in our lungs is another blessing. Another time to be grateful to God. There is someone who did not wake up today. Think about that for a moment, have a thankful and grateful heart for this day, praise God for His blessing.

“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
(‭‭Psalms‬ ‭118:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

There are twenty four hours in a day. How much of that time are we giving to God? He wants us to be in relationship with Him. Not just corporately on Sunday’s, but each and every day. Are you making it a point to be alone with Jesus?

Quiet time with Jesus is a treat, a sweet haven from the world where we can pause and converse with our Savior. We get to just be with Him. There is no formula. But if you’ve never intentionally spent time with Jesus regularly (or it’s been quite a while), how do you get started?

First pick a time. Set aside a time without distractions. Jesus taught us this, “Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.” (‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:35‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Next, worship Him. Listening to a worship song and even singing prepares your heart to be with God. Start with adoration of God, not with it being about “me” and “my needs”.

Open the Bible, spend time in God’s word. After you read, meditate on what you read. Let it permeate into your heart, so that you can take something from it and put it into practice today.

Finish with prayer. Talk to God. Praise Him, confess to Him, thank Him, ask Him. Trust Jesus, it is by His blood, and not your good works, that salvation is freely given. His desire is to draw near to you. It is through a relationship with Jesus, through prayer and by His will that He will heal you in your time of need as He did the deaf man in today’s reading.

Spend some alone time with Jesus today.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, Thank You for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for giving us life abundantly. We pray we would be quick to recognize the gifts in our lives and be grateful for them. We pray we would share our thankfulness with You every day. We pray You would help us to be transparent with You, whether we are doing well or struggling. Please help us to spend more time alone with You, and draw closer to You every day, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
