Standing in the Face of Authority
Mark 5:1-20
Notice how when all hope seems gone Jesus jumps in and does the “impossible”?
Life tends to be like that, where we feel like our struggles are never-ending and impossible to escape from. But Jesus says instead of hiding, come to me. It’s not just about coming to Jesus, it’s about opening and sharing that intimacy with God. You might say “but God is all knowing right?” Yes He is. However, it takes faith to express your problem out loud to Christ. It’s you saying “I’m here at your feet Lord, I release this to you, this is my struggle and I don’t want to deal with it alone. I can’t live life under my own strength but I need yours.”
As human beings we tend to want things done “now”. As we live under God’s strength, we also live under His timing. You might be thinking “why not right now?” Think of it like this, as a parent, when the child wants something, many times you tell them not now - perhaps later. Why is that? Oftentimes, greater things come prior to them getting what they wanted so badly.. The same is with God. Our flesh is impatient, but it’s in God’s timing, for He is telling us to wait because greater things are in store.
Prayer: Thank you Lord that You are here with me in the good and the bad. Thank You that You see more in me than I see in myself. Lord, I give my all to You. I trust You in it all, even when it often makes me uncomfortable, I trust Your plans more than my own. I ask that You strengthen me as I walk in Your path and that as You work in me You can work in those around me. In Your Holy name I pray, Amen.
