Spend 5 minutes in the Word

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you.  Let them be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind that he will find acceptable.  This is truly the way to worship him.  Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”  Romans 12:1-2

Spend 5 minutes in Prayer

Lord, we gather before you to center our minds and our hearts on your ultimate sacrifice. Without the cross, there is no relationship. There are no words that can describe our immeasurable gratitude and love for what you had to endure to open the vail to the fullness of God’s blessing over our lives. Jesus, this prayer is not a petition, a laundry list of needs and desires needing you to fulfill. Lord, all that we ask of you is for a fuller revelation of what has already been accomplished. If we are to never receive another blessing, we have ALREADY received far more than we could ever ask for or deserve. We can be so fickle, so petty, Lord.  How easily we can become disconnected from your goodness when every one of our needs are not met.  Father, we simply ask for a fresh understanding of what has already been done, so that we may continuously stay in the vein of our intimate relationship with God, the Father.

May our sacrifice to you begin in our homes and in our families. Help us to not take for granted or overlook those closest to us, for our families are gifts from you.  We ask that you untangle the worldly, self-serving perspective of what it means to sacrifice. Guide our hearts from selfish motives and as we serve, remind us that in every encounter with others, we represent you. We love you, and we praise you Jesus. You are our King. Amen.
