He Is Risen!
Written by: Richie L.
Jesus came to change the course of history. It’s His Story that we celebrate tomorrow. So when we say ‘He is Risen’ it’s not just a statement of a past event. It is a declaration of a current reality. A reality that we are loved and forgiven. That we have been adopted as God’s son’s and daughter’s through Jesus.
The resurrection of Jesus is God’s way of showing us that death is not the end. “Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? ” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:54-57 NLT)
Easter transforms our sorrow into joy and hope, our fear into peace and courage.
Just before he was arrested, Jesus said to His disciples, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”
(John 14:1-3 NLT)
These words from Jesus before His death are moving and hope-filled. However, it was in the Resurrection itself that His words were powerfully demonstrated to be true. Jesus’ resurrection demonstrated His power over sin and death.
Eternal life starts now. If we know that Christ is our Saviour, if we accept Him as our King, and recognize the significance of His death, trusting in His resurrection, we see and experience God’s intention for human life now. This Word from God, demonstrated through Jesus’ life, teachings, death, and resurrection, once accepted, changes everything. It is life-giving.
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:19-20 NLT)
