Battle Ready
Written by: Richie L.
Read: ““Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.””
(Matthew 22:36-40)
“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”” (Matthew 28:18-20)
As we learned from the readings this week, Nehemiah teaches us to seize the moment. When the time was right, he was able to cast a vision and undertake the rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls. He shows us that as problems present themselves, we must bring them to God, wait for His response with prayer, and be ready to act in accordance to God’s will.
As Christians, we have enlisted as soldiers in God’s army. We must remain on mission throughout the day, everyday. Let’s enter this new year keeping the Great Commandment, to Love God, Love People. Carry the mission forward every day, as that is the Great Commission. We are to advance to gospel and continue to reach the unchurched and go for the one.
“Let us not glide through this world and then slip quietly into heaven, without having blown the trumpet loud and long for our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Let us see to it that the devil will hold a thanksgiving service in hell, when he gets the news of our departure from the field of battle.” (C.T. Studd)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for this new day and for this new year. Strengthen my resolve to reach out to You daily, to have a stronger relationship with You and to come to You with all things. I pray that You will use me to allow Your will to be done. I am a soldier in Your army, prepare me for battle every day. Strengthen me through Your word, Your church and Your spirit, as I cannot do this alone. Help me to be Your hands and feet, to serve willingly and joyfully and to follow You in all that I do. I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
