Stop “Practicing” Christianity
Read: Mark 10:13-16
“One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them.”
The goal isn’t to bring people to church.
The goal isn’t to bring people to a crew gathering.
The goal isn’t to bring people to church related events/functions.
The goal is and always will be to bring people to Jesus. He is the only one who can save.
Are you a “practicing” Christian or a follower of Jesus?
There actually is a difference in case you didn’t know.
You can do all of the right things and still miss the point.
A lot of people can serve, abide by Godly principles, bring their family to church AND STILL not see freedom and true victory in their lives (or their children's lives) because they are not truly surrendered and submitted to Jesus Himself.
Trying to practice Christianity can become both self focused and religious. This can cause you to not live your life from a place of grace, faith, and love.
When you are an authentic follower of Jesus you will obey Him.
Bringing people to Jesus is the goal.
Don’t stop bringing yourself to Jesus and don’t stop bringing people to Jesus. This is a lifelong journey.
So how exactly does one ACTUALLY bring people to Jesus?
Well, if your faith is in Jesus and you are following Him...He is in YOU. Paul says “It is no longer I who live but Christ Who lives in me” (see Galatians 2 for more).
As you deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Him. You are dying to your old self and becoming more like the person God created and calls you to be.
People take notice of that. When people see that, the prayer is that they will see Jesus in you. (But we have to get out of the way first.)
You are a walking, talking, living billboard to the faithfulness of our living God and if you will allow Him to use you, you will bring more people to Jesus than you could ever imagine.
Don’t be like the disciples who (in good intentions) pushed people away from Jesus.
A lot of people have a problem with Christians and Christianity...Not Jesus…(That’s a problem).
Have faith like a child.
Live in wonder.
Obey Jesus’ instructions and the promptings of the Holy Spirit.
Pray to God for the impossible and don’t be afraid to dream.
Say yes to whatever God calls you to do.
Always trust that God is good, He has your best interest in mind, and He will ALWAYS provide.
Be authentic and bring people to Jesus so He can heal them, bless them, and change the trajectory of their lives forever.
It all starts with you staying surrendered and submitted today to Jesus.
Don’t stop bringing yourself first and foremost to Jesus.
If you’re a parent, don’t stop bringing your children to Jesus.
Don’t stop bringing your friends and family to Jesus.
We’re on mission.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for who You are. Help me to be a reflection on Your glory. Let the fruit of Your Holy Spirit be evident in my life to bring others closer to You. Use me today and help me to slow down to be fully present everywhere I find myself. Help me to make the most of every opportunity today and reveal Yourself to me. I want to know You more. I need You and I am so thankful for You in my life. Amen.
