Same Title, Different Belief

Read: Mark 9:38-50

As new Christians many of us get trapped between the act of following Jesus or seeking Him religiously. You see, as you start this journey, the religious part of you says, “that person acts like they’re glorifying God, but I know their past.” However the word says it doesn’t matter what you’ve done or what you do as long as you place it upon the Lord's hands, in order for Him to chisel the past from the person He is shaping you to become. Jesus mentions how your flesh tends to lead you into the wrong act, you must kill it. (Mark 9:42-47)

You can’t follow Jesus and the world at the same time, there’s no in between. You might be thinking, kill my flesh? What?! The process of killing your flesh is denying your worldly desires and replacing them with Godly desires. Killing your flesh is also what separates you from a religious follower or a true follower of Christ. When you make the decision to deny yourself and trust and seek the Lord, you’re basically saying, “I don’t trust myself, but I trust that You, Lord, have it all under control.”

Prayer:
Father, thank You that at the start of my journey, You are there to light the way towards the right path, Your path. While I may feel stuck, You are continuously working on me along with working through my life. Lord, awaken my eyes to Your vision, along with reviving my heart to Your ways, and enabling my mind to pure, loving, life-giving thoughts. Lord, I thank You that while I may beat myself up for my past, You step in and remind me of the present along with Your promises. Thank You Lord, for Your love and mercy over my life, I pray this in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
