Healing
Mark 6:45-56 MSG
“As soon as the meal was finished, Jesus insisted that the disciples get in the boat and go on ahead across to Bethsaida while he dismissed the congregation. After sending them off, he climbed a mountain to pray.
Late at night, the boat was far out at sea; Jesus was still by himself on land. He could see his men struggling with the oars, the wind having come up against them. At about four o’clock in the morning, Jesus came toward them, walking on the sea. He intended to go right by them. But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and screamed, scared out of their wits.
Jesus was quick to comfort them: “Courage! It’s me. Don’t be afraid.” As soon as he climbed into the boat, the wind died down. They were stunned, shaking their heads, wondering what was going on. They didn’t understand what he had done at the supper. None of this had yet penetrated their hearts.
They beached the boat at Gennesaret and tied up at the landing. As soon as they got out of the boat, word got around fast. People ran this way and that, bringing their sick on stretchers to where they heard he was. Wherever he went, village or town or country crossroads, they brought their sick to the marketplace and begged him to let them touch the edge of his coat—that’s all. And whoever touched him became well.”
The story of Jesus walking across water and calming the storm is so profound. Realizing how scared His friends were, Jesus was quick to comfort them. In your times of trouble, when you are scared and anxious, do you reach out to Jesus? Let Him be your comforter. Bring your storms to Jesus, and watch as He is able to quiet them.
As soon as they reached the shores, everyone came to Jesus knowing that they could receive healing simply by just touching his coat. They believed and knew that healing was their portion. Their faith in Jesus was great. They simply heard what Jesus was doing, believed in Him and then witnessed the healings. We can learn from their response. Our physical eyes have not seen the miraculous works of Jesus. However, we have read and heard about them. Let your faith in Him come alive, trust Him, and watch what Jesus can do with your faith today.
Jesus has the ability today to heal you, if you would simply believe it. Let’s change our attitude or praying from asking God for healing to declaring that healing is our portion. Let our faith rise up knowing that Our Father can do ALL things.
Prayer:
Father God, I pray right now that You remove any unbelief. We trust You and know that You are a good good father. Jesus I pray right now for anyone in need of healing right now. I pray that You make a way and give them a fresh touch right now. Thank You in advance, Jesus, for what is happening and what is to come. In Jesus Name, Amen.
