The Heart of Worship

Read: Mark 14:1-11

Take a couple of minutes and listen to the song “Heart of Worship” by Brandon Lake

True worship is putting your energy, thought, focus, and devotion on Jesus.

True worship is valuing God above all else.

It’s valuing Jesus above anything and everything this world has to offer.

True worship isn’t going to make sense to some people and it most likely may even make you look crazy.

True worship is going to cost you something.

True worship is a lifestyle. Paul says that I pour my life out as an offering (see Philippians 2:17) and that is exactly what this woman is doing before Jesus.

She is blessing Jesus with her sacrifice.
She is blessing Jesus with her vulnerability and faith.
She is blessing Jesus with her worship.

She didn’t just sing a song. She backed up her faith with action. True worship is what the Lord desires and is after from you today and everyday.

“Those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols, and never tell lies.
They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God, their savior.
Such people may seek you and worship in your presence.”
- Psalm 24:1-6

Prayer:
Jesus, make me more aware of Your presence. I need You and desire to keep You the main focus of my life. Cleanse me, Renew my mind and heart, and empower me by Your Holy Spirit to live for You and worship You with my life. Guide me today. I trust You. Amen.
