Overcoming Self-Righteousness
Luke 15:25-32, Philippians 3:4-9
The older brother's reaction reveals the danger of self-righteousness that can creep into our spiritual lives. Like him, we can fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others or feeling entitled to God's blessings because of our good behavior.
Paul's words in Philippians remind us that our own righteousness is worthless compared to the righteousness that comes through faith in Christ. Examine your heart today.
Are there areas where you feel superior to others because of your spiritual disciplines or moral choices?
Ask God to reveal any hidden pride and to help you rejoice in His grace extended to all, including those you might consider less deserving.
